Division incorporating Department of Microelectronics in Krakow is a part of the Institute of Electron Technology (ITE) whose main site is located in Warsaw. The Institute is a major Polish R&D center with the primary focus on: semiconductor electronics and technology. The mission of the ITE is to conduct basic and applied research to develop and commercialize innovative micro- and nanotechnologies and their applications in the area of microelectronics, optoelectronics, photonics and microsystems. Department of Microelectronics is a leading research center in Poland in the field of thick film technology on ceramic and polymer substrates.

The range of R&D works covers wide area; from technological knowledge including elaboration and characterization of ceramic materials, ceramic composites and polymer composites, development of leadless soldering processes and microassembling processes, to design of sensors, electronic circuits and systems for medicine, PV installations, environments security and measurements equipment. In the nearest future there is planed the development of LTCC technology and entry to the world of printed organic electronics.
