Kazimierz Palace was built in 1660 as a summer residence of King Jan Kazimierz. In 1765-1768, the Palace was rebuilt for the seat of the Cadets Corps (School of Knights) which counts among its pupils T. Kosciuszko, J. U. Niemcewicz, J. Sowinski.
In 1817-31, it also housed the Warsaw Lyceum, a secondary school where Fryderyk Chopin's father taught French. The Chopin family lived in a spacious apartment on the second floor of the left annexe of the Palace.
Currently Kazimierz Palace is the seat of the University of Warsaw - the rector's office and the senate.
